Hip Hop is going mainstream. No disrespect to all the other genres like rock, house and pop, but for some reason in the last couple of years I see more and more people listening to Hip Hop.
From back in a days when we use to listen to “What’s My Name” from Snoop Dogg up to these days where you got MC’s like Drake rapping about “Best I Ever Had” Hip Hop has become an efficient way of expressing yourself. Back than I used to get music recommendation from friends and by just going to the music store and listening to all kind of beats. But today I get the songs from random people I see as my colleagues, investors or potential partners. This song was playing on Ben Horowitz Blog and reflects his “The Struggle” article. I like some bits here and there about the article, I must admit, but it doesn’t mean that it reflects what I’m going through entirely. 2 years ago I have written how I deal with “The Struggle” in my “Like a Lion” post.
“There’s only 2 ways out of here
One’s through the door, the other’s through me.
Don’t say that you feel like dying
Life’s hard then it feels like diamonds”
Music is the language of emotions and my recent discussion with one of our advisors has shown me once again that emotion is the force of life.
How do you feel?
